KUFI
1990er

The selection of this somewhat longer short film by young Jan Peters for the festival competition was very controversial within the commission. In the end, it was decided that there was something to this 8mm film, to this very talkative protagonist. 30 years later, we are looking back on the beginning of a life project by filmmaker and artist Jan Peters. He is now a professor at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and continues to be represented with his work at film festivals. (I.B.)

The 1990s: the unemployment rate and hopelessness of many reaches its peak. The protagonists of the film, Mike and Alfred, are also affected by this, but they refuse to give up and remain very serene. This film was the beginning of a cycle and is now part of the Edition Filmmuseum for the distribution of artistically and historically relevant films. The auteur filmmakers and actors Markus Mischkowski and Kai Maria Steinkühler became friends of the REGENSBURGER KURZFILMWOCHE. The screening of the film in this program is also a memorial to Kai Maria, who died too soon three years ago. (I. B.)

The last few weeks of preparation before the festival were anything but monotonous and boring. They were exhausting and grueling. When everything became too much, the festival team retreated to the movies to laugh, relax and recharge their batteries. - It's a cow!!!!!!!!!!! (I. B.)
