INTERLACED DIVA
Curated and moderated by Peter Cerovšek Interlaced DIVA is a curated program of video works from the DIVA Station archive that focuses on the voices and perspectives of predominantly female authors. The title plays with the double meaning of the term “interlaced”. Technically, it refers to the structure of a video signal in which images are built up through interwoven fields. Symbolically, it refers to the interplay of artistic voices and emphasizes the role of female artists in the examination of gender roles, normative images of femininity and the representation of the female body. The selected works critically question social structures that shape our understanding of identity, sexuality and social dynamics. Through the interplay of images and ideas, the program invites us to reflect on these themes from a contemporary perspective. The DIVA Station is a physical and digital archive of video art, film and new media art developed by SCCA-Ljubljana since 2005. It preserves and presents over 1,600 works - from artistic and documentary works to music videos - created by Slovenian artists since 1969.
