Prairie Poems
The exhibition PRAIRIE POEMS features 39 experimental video works created between 2020 and 2022 by 22 art students from the Digital and Integrated Practice Program (DIP) in the Department of Art & Art History at the University of Saskatchewan in the heart of the Prairie Provinces. The budding artists come from a wide variety of contexts that they examine through their work. The short videos and animations explore representations of self, psychological states, (dis)ability, familial relationships, ecological concerns, and other musings on the Universe. The works emanate the full spectrum of emotion from joyful bliss to sorrowful melancholy. They ask for deep reflection, an embracing of the absurd, and the suspension of disbelief as magic happens and meaning is unearthed in the everyday.
The installation runs as an one-hour loop and can be viewed throughout the opening hours of W1.
